In September, 2000, I was contacted by Alistair Banks Griffin, a student director at RISD, who asked if I would allow him to turn my comic into a short film. After careful consideration of fourteen seconds I said yes. The film was shot over the winter of 2000-2001 and completed in May, 2001. It premiered at the RISD student film festival on May 21 and it was a real blast to watch my characters and hear my words on the screen.

I've posted here a short 2.5mb Quicktime movie as well as several stills and production shots from the film.

Banks and Top Shelf Productions have made VHS copies of the film which are now for sale. Please contact Top Shelf for more information on how to go about getting a copy.
SCREENINGS:
Dear Julia,
was presented in Philadelphia on April 14 as part of the NextFrame festival at the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE :
In 2003 I received a request for permission from Isaac Gozin, a film-maker in Belgium, to make a version of Dear Julia,. I never heard back from Isaac and promptly forgot about it. Then in February 2006 I found a link to Dear Julia, on IMDB. After a bit of searching, I located Isaac and he posted it on YouTube. I'm still waiting for a DVD, but the tiny version looks swell. Check out the "comparison" link for details.
