Finally found one of the Roscoe display cases that I had heard about. Barnes & Noble and Borders didn't have them, and in fact all these big stores I've visited had only one copy of each book in their shelves. For having such an influence over the design and marketing, you'd hope they'd put their money where their mouth is. But bless Hannah and Heather and Sarah at CBW in Haverford. They had dozens of Roscoe books and this nice display, and Hannah says she's sold lots of books. Woo!

While waiting for my accordion to be fixed at Main Squeeze on Essex Street yesterday, I walked around the Lower East Side/Chinatown taking pictures of building signage with the iPhone. Here are some of the better ones.

Another oldie but goodie. I posted a movie I made in 2002 that's basically my 1993 graphic novel Frederick & Eloise set to music with me narrating. It was done for a special comix event at the Prince Music Theatre. I really enjoyed creating this thing and I think that the book actually lacks for not having music. I met Tin Hat Trio at a concert in 2003 and gave them a DVD with the movie on it, and asked them if it was ok that I used their music. Rob Burger answered in the affirmative. It's here in the animation department.

While I'm going through this aforementioned redesign and house-cleaning on MrBiggs dot com, I'm finding things under the couch and in corners that I'd forgotten about. For instance, buried on the "Other" page was this cool project I did in 2002-2003 for Bell Helmets. I designed two helmets. One was covered in monkeys (Monkeytown!) and the other was covered in cats and dogs (Raining Cats & Dogs). Now and then I still find people wearing my helmets and I'm always happy when I see that.

I'm about to begin a major major overhaul of my website, MrBiggs dot com. I'll be redesigning the whole thing, and adding a bunch of useful things like a searchable illustration portfolio, a "projects" section that will have thorough explanations and galleries of larger projects where a single portfolio image doesn't work well, and a less clunky interface. To that end, I spent a few hours this last weekend updating the illustration departments and beginning the process of getting rid of these awful html frames that I built my site on in 1998. A couple of sections, animation and comics, haven't got there yet. I also added a new section called "noise" in which I get to post the results of my electronic music hobby. Lastly, I've added many new works to the illustration and children's sections including a lot of work I did for The Museum of Modern Art from 2004 – 2006 but never posted (because I'm an idiot).
Importantly also, while this work is going there might occasionally be a glitch where something is temporarily broken. This probably means that I am updating and working on it. So there that is. Enjoy.
