I was so so so excited today to find that my book Un Mode de Transport was written about the other day on my favoritest blog, Julia Rothman's 'Book By Its Cover.' I've spent a lot of money as a direct result of Julia's reviews, and discovered a lot of artists and books that I otherwise would not have. When I saw that she had written about that Play Pen book that I am in a while back, I sent her a copy of Transport, since that was the book of mine that was written about in Play Pen (still with me?). I was taking a break from picture-drawing today and when I went to the site I fell of my chair and danced for a minute. I like it when people say nice things. I really do.

Mini Puzzle

A while back I made a big puzzle for Mudpuppy with the theme "Air, Land, and Sea." Recently they asked me to make another puzzle, a little smaller for the 3+ crowd, with more cars. Last night this thing got finished and will be out June 2009.
As you probably know, I really really like drawing cars and trucks and things that go.

This last Saturday, Wilson, Elliot and I volunteered at the kids' old school to help build their new playground. When we arrived I was quite surprised to find hundreds of volunteers from the Wharton School of Business and Kaboom.org there to build as well.
The entire thing was completed in seven hours. We started building around 9:00am and we finished around 4:00pm.
I brought a camera, tethered it to my laptop via Firewire, and used iStopMotion to record about one frame every ten seconds. I made a little soundtrack with Ableton Live and the result was posted here. Enjoy.

Today is the official release date for Beastly Rhymes, a book I illustrated last year. It's written by Judy Sierra and is all creepy monster poems about giant squids, haunted zoos, carnivorous leopards, and angry insects. The coolest thing, see, is that the book is furry. Really.

Read more about the book here.
Available at Amazon, of course, as well as fine local independent book stores all over.

The article for Wired's website mentioned earlier has been translated and rejiggered for some websites in other locales. Namely Brazil and Japan. The iPhone pictures on my Flickr page got an enormous amount of traffic yesterday so I checked my stats to see why. Apparently, this is the reason.
