There's a really swell piece in Publisher's Weekly about Everything Goes. Since I don't have a nice graphic to use for the piece, I'll post this great cutaway of an RV that is part of the collection of reference material I found on the Google Images as the interview mentions.

Today is the official publication date of Everything Goes: On Land. I've been anticipating September 13, 2011 for several years now and I was kind of hoping The Today Show and a bunch of news vans would have been at my studio door when I arrived this morning.
The book should be available at an awesome book store near you today, and if not, I know you can get it on Amazon dot com.
There will be a publication and signing party at Children's Book World in Haverford, PA on September 24 at 1pm. If you live in the Philadelphia area I hope you can come out to this and say hi.
I'll also be making an appearance on the 21st at the North American Independent Bookseller's Association conference in Atlantic City on Sept 24.
Publisher's Weekly will be publishing a little interview with me in a couple of days, so check back for that.
In the meantime, here are some photos of people happily enjoying Everything Goes. If you like the book, snap a picture like this and send it along.
By the way, one of these people actually appears in the book (albeit with a slightly different appearance). First one to find her or him and puts it in a comment gets a prize.

I was interviewed by Tony Lewis of The Artfuls a few weeks ago. It's a really nice site with some terrific design. In addition, it's always fun to read interviews with other illustrators and learn what they listen to, what materials they use, and so on.
So the interview went live today. Enjoy.

I came in to work this nice Monday morning and was fairly immediately greeted by the UPS truck outside. He gave me a package that I've been anxiously awaiting for several years now.
Everything Goes is now a book. Bound, with a cover and endpapers and a UPC symbol and an ISBN number and it's got my name on it. I'm pretty glad to see this. Of course my plan today was to work hard on book two, but that got preempted since I had to take pictures…
Publication date is September 13.

Just noticed today that Everything Goes is up for order on Amazon dot com. There's something that feels "official" about that, now, with the cover image and everything. Official publication date is 13 September. Getting closer every day.
Click the image to go to there.
(I really like that it lists its "Best Value" partner book as The Astonishing Secret of Awesome Man. I've never heard of this book, but I love Michael Chabon. I'd order both and get that 5% off if I were you.)

Workman just published a new activity kit called Potato Chip Science, for which I drew the cover illustration. If you're looking at the picture thinking "well Brian, your going insane, for that is not a book. It's a bag of potato chips!" I couldn't blame you. The packaging is meant to resemble a bag of chips, and in fact the bag is filled with plastic chips (something like those packing peanuts you get in shipping boxes). There is also a book of fun projects one can make with potatoes, as well as some of the materials you would need to do the projects.
Originally I was up for illustrating the entire book, but in the end they asked me to do the cover. Go out and get yourself this kit and spend the weekend making stuff out of potatoes!
