I believe this story arc was inspired by Animal House.

Starting to wrap it up now. Only two more weeks and eight episodes to go. Do you remember when you used to go to parties? I do.

Twenty-five years after doing these strips, I kind of wish I'd done more of these non-sequitur episodes. This one refers to this one from April 4, 1987.

Continuing the theme of Edgar's, actually Lenny's, actually my, issues with the opposite sex.

More of the working out issues. There was this girl, see. She lived in Kerr Hall. I don't remember her name and 25 years later I doubt that she actually existed. But I'd imagine ways of walking up to her and saying hello, and having conversations, and going out for pizza. I was a stunted 19-year-old and she was probably in a sorority, and it seemed impossible. But then the next thing I know she's hanging out with this guy Larry, who lived in my dorm, Kendall Hall, and who was the biggest loudmouth creep in Denton. In my imagination, he probably didn't open the car door for her and her parents would hate him, and why the hell was she going out with him? Well I can tell you why. Because one day Larry walked up to her and said "Hi. I'm Larry. Would you like to go get pizza?" This probably happened one afternoon while I was locked in my dorm room drawing this comic strip, in fact.

Busy week. Got behind.

This strip and the next few seem to deal with my own issues with "girls" and the dating of them. Also, the Flying Tomato was (is) a pizza joint near the campus of North Texas in Denton. I used to spend a lot of time there. Probably sitting in a corner wondering how to talk to the girls without looking like a dork.
