YoYo Joe’s!

April 14th, 2009

The weather was cold and wet, but it was sunny and dry in YoYo Joe’s in Wilmington on Saturday. Thanks to Joe and his family, and to those who braved the elements to come by and say hi.
And for those who aren’t in the know, YoYo Joe’s is a great excuse to drive south to Wilmington. Books, toys, games, puzzles, and more yoyos than you knew existed. Oh, and a ship! It’s a great shop.
The Brandywine River Museum is just a few minutes away so you can check out the Edward Gorey show while you’re down there til May 17.

appearances

February 9th, 2009

I “appeared” a couple of places this last few days and I have some pictures to prove it. First, on Friday, I spent the day at Gladwyne Elementary near Philadelphia. I want to thank everyone there for such a great time and reception. Barbara Gross is an amazing librarian and had all the kids so ready to go. I’d been snowed out twice before finally making it there on Friday, so thanks for the patience as well. The photo is me with the Shredder Snowman.

On Sunday I was part of the children’s book fair at the Main Line Art Center in Haverford, PA. It was packed and I got to meet a lot of great people. I gave a little presentation about my work and signed a lot of books. Thanks to the MLCA for putting it on, and to Children’s Book World in Haverford for selling books. And thanks Sacha for taking the two pics.

Philadelphia Book Festival, this weekend!

May 12th, 2008

This Saturday and Sunday is the Philadelphia Book Festival at the Main Library. I’ll apparently be an “event” at the festival itself on Saturday and I hope you can make it over to see whatever it is I’m doing. I’ll be on the “Target Children’s Stage” at 3:00pm.

Rumor has it that there will be a Q & A session. So come up with the question that you’ve always wanted to know the answer to. (My favorite color is “rainbow” so don’t ask that one.) And then I’ll be signing books. They’ve ordered lots and lots of early copies of the new Roscoe Riley books that will be in stores later this month, as well as all the other stuff.

In addition, sometime on Sunday, not sure when, I’ll be signing Shredderman books with Wendelin Van Draanen. This is our very first signing together and I’m pretty excited. We will be at the Children’s Book World booth, so check in there and find out what time it’s to take place. Then, if you happen to see me, let me know too.

This is all good news, yes. But the other shoe has to drop, right? Well yes indeed. At the same exact moment that I’ll be acting all famous and whatever on Saturday, the slightly more talented and much better looking Adam Rex will be doing the same in the Children’s Story Hour Room, also at 3pm. So you must decide between us, and we’re both taking names…

Here’s the link for the festival.
And the link for my little event on Saturday.

We’re praying for decent weather, so please come in any case.

Central School Young Author’s Day

May 19th, 2007

I spent last Friday in Warren, NJ at Central School. It was Young Author’s Day and I gave three presentations, signed a million books, and answered some really interesting questions. If you own or are affiliated with a school and you would like to have someone give presentations, sign books, and answer interesting questions, get in touch.

Me, at the Philadelphia Book Festival

April 18th, 2007

I’ll be reading and drawing and probably causing trouble at the Headhouse Books booth this Saturday at the Philadelphia Book Festival. The official note from Headhouse goes like this:

This weekend, bring your family and friends to visit HeadHouse Book’s booth at the Philadelphia Book Festival between 11 AM and 7 PM. Our tent will be on 20th and Wood Street, across the street from the Friends Book Corner. We will have a great selection of award-winning books–perfect “pool side” reading for all ages!

I’ll be showing up around 1pm and leaving around 2:30ish.
In addition be sure to see One Ring Zero at 2:30 on Sunday at the Toyota Music Stage.

Enjoy!
