To answer your inevitable question pre-emptively, why yes, I do think that this might be about all you see here for the next several months!

No not really. It’s just kind of a thing right now.
Drawn with pencil on tracing paper, colored in Photoshop.
Here’s the first of what will soon be six, and eventually more, race car collages. This is 10 x 10 inches, is done with magazine and other pages, acrylic paint, and it’s on birch plywood. The first six of these will be for sale at the Main Line Art Center’s Children’s Book Fair on February 8. As I get the other five completed I’ll post them here as well.

race car collage no.1
I’m taking part in a children’s book fair at the Main Line Art Center the first weekend of February where they’re offering some space to sell a few pieces. I’m taking this opportunity to further some work that I’ve been wanting to do away from the computer. As you know, I’ve been offering some digital prints on Etsy for a couple of weeks. But it’s my new year resolution to get my hands dirty in 2009 and do some painting and printing.
Therefore, I’m attempting to get six collage/paintings done in time for this festival. I’ve had these race cars in my head for weeks and before starting on the finals, I wanted to do some test drives (ha ha, a pun!). So what you’re seeing here are small “sketches” at 8.25 x 5 inches. The finished ones will be 10 x 10 inches on wood, and will be lovelier, cooler, and all around better than these.
If this works out, expect airplanes, space ships, monsters and robots to follow. Pricing to be determined. Stay tuned.
