I told Jon Keegan on Facebook the other day that I wouldn’t be drawing while in jury duty on Friday. He was right, I was wrong.

I’ve spent a little time drawing in my sketchbook this week. I don’t paint in it much so this was a little bit funnish.

analog race cars

race car 5

I’m taking part in a children’s book fair at the Main Line Art Center the first weekend of February where they’re offering some space to sell a few pieces. I’m taking this opportunity to further some work that I’ve been wanting to do away from the computer. As you know, I’ve been offering some digital prints on Etsy for a couple of weeks. But it’s my new year resolution to get my hands dirty in 2009 and do some painting and printing.

Therefore, I’m attempting to get six collage/paintings done in time for this festival. I’ve had these race cars in my head for weeks and before starting on the finals, I wanted to do some test drives (ha ha, a pun!). So what you’re seeing here are small “sketches” at 8.25 x 5 inches. The finished ones will be 10 x 10 inches on wood, and will be lovelier, cooler, and all around better than these.
If this works out, expect airplanes, space ships, monsters and robots to follow. Pricing to be determined. Stay tuned.

Birds of a Feather…

I’ve had these birds on my mind lately and wanted to get them down. I might make something more out of them. A larger format flock.

Faces for Friday
Since most of the work I am working on won’t be available for viewing for some time, I thought I’d post some sketchbook things. These are ink and brush in my sketchbook. (Sometimes one gets tired of the cute kids all the time…)
